Summer hours in effect at SafeChem!

Summer SafeChem hours start April 1! Bring in your household hazardous waste to any of these locations. You do not need an appointment, just stop by during the open hours listed below. Please note: SafeChem will be closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

North Kent Recycle and Waste Center
2908 Ten Mile Rd. NE, Rockford
Friday’s 8:30am – 11:30am

Kent County Department of Public Works
1500 Scribner Ave NW, Grand Rapids
Wednesday’s 7:30am – 11:30am

Wyoming Clean Water Plant
2350 Ivanrest Ave SW, Wyoming
Monday’s 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Thursday’s 7:00am – 9:00am
(Must check in at office)

Kentwood Department of Public Works
5068 Breton Rd. SE, Kentwood
Tuesday’s 1:30pm – 5:30pm

Weather watch: Kent County reserves the right to close the hazardous waste collection centers due to severe weather including heat advisory and lightning. If these conditions are present, please call ahead. 616-632-7920.

Loads larger than 6 boxes please call ahead. We do not accept latex paint, ammunition, explosives, medications, electronics, large propane tanks, alkaline batteries, waste from businesses & non-profits or non-Kent County residents.
