We are accepting all broken, outdated, and unwanted child safety seats (car seats) in the parking lot at John Ball Zoo’s Party for the Planet event on Saturday April 17th, 2021. This is a FREE event and available to everyone.
Please follow these steps so that your car seat is ready to recycle at John Ball Zoo’s Party for the Planet event:1️⃣ Remove all fabric and cushions — throw them away.
2️⃣ Remove all metal (bolts, buckles, etc.). This can be done with a screwdriver and scissors.

- Metal may be dropped off at a SCRAP metal recycling facility but NOT put in your curbside bin or dropped off at a Kent County DPW Recycling Center.
- Metal may be brought to the car seat collection booth to put in a scrap metal bin.
3️⃣ Bring the plastic car seat and any scrap metal to the car seat collection.
4️⃣ Please practice social distancing, sanitize your hands, and wear a mask when dropping off the child safety seats at our booth.
